Partners in the Project

SDAG

With the RoLa-GO project, completed with support of the INTERREG III A ITALY-SLOVENIA 2000-2006 European Programme of Cross Border Cooperation, SDAG has completed the overall project, started in 2003, to create the Cross-border Intermodal Terminal of Gorizia.

The project has been supported by two important Slovenian partners: the Municipality of Šempeter Vrtojba, institutional representative admitted to promoting the integrated development of the Sant’Andrea-Vrtojba Frontier Station, and FERSPED d.d., the leading Slovenian company in the field of railway transport.

Šempeter-Vrtojba

The municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba was established in 1998.

The municipality stretches over km2 and has 6,452 inhabitants. The economy of the town is well developed with the tertiary and quaternary sectors prevailing; among the main activities there are: trading, service industry, artisan industry, logistics, transports and similar. There is an important high technology segment of industry and companies that has developed mainly in the Primorska Technological Park.

There are two small urban centres: Šempeter pri Gorici and Vrtojba. Šempeter pri Gorici is the administrative centre. It is an important hub for international transport, as well as a relevant centre for the whole region of the Vipavska dolina, due to its location on the crossroads of the main road network and to the numerous jobs available.

This favourable position on the international and regional transport network, the urban road network and free flow of community trade, offer a great opportunity to structural transformation which will lead to a progressive development of the tertiary and quaternary sectors.

The Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba has participated in the RoLa-GO project as a foreign partner, as it foresees the possibility to complete the motorway network connecting with Gorizia as well as re-organize the logistics terminal for the development of the whole Vrtojba-Sant’Andrea frontier station area.
